Counseling, Nutrition and Health Care Center (COUNSENUTH) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working in the area of public health, gender and nutrition in Tanzania. This position reports to the Senior Advisor – Programs and Research
Position Summary
The Program Officer will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the nutrition and gender aspect of the community program in the Chamber District Council, Dodoma Region. The applicant should have the ability to work with local government, communities and also people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated, creative, team player with high integrity and be fluent in written and spoken Kiswahili and English.
Specific duties:
Work with the Senior Advisor – Program and Research, and other team members in coordinating and facilitating the implementation of program activities.
Working closely with Regional Authorities and Local Governments, including the Committee of the various Nutrition Sector Council and District Nutrition Officers in planning and implementing nutrition activities in the district.
Provide technical support to District Nutrition Officers, District nutritionist teams and other stakeholders implementing the program.
Working with the steering committees of various nutrition sectors to support nutrition interventions in the respective Councils.
Assist in building the capacity of grassroots program implementers including community health workers
Closely monitor the implementation of activities under the plan as planned in the action plan.
Prepare important presentation materials for meetings.
Prepare and timely presentation of activities, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required
Ensuring project deadlines are met
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor/COUNSENUTH.
Required Qualifications and Experience Applicants must:
Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition
Must have at least 4 years working experience in nutrition or related project/program.
Have experience in community engagement/mobilization and capacity building process.
Have experience working with Government institutions, civil society organizations and community partners.
Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
