Position: Assistant Gender Coordinator.
Location: Tanga-Pemba Seascape, Tanzania.
Reports to: Gender Coordinator RESEA Program.

Background:
The Regenerative Seascapes for People, Climate, and Nature Program (ReSea), funded by Global Affairs Canada, aims to strengthen the resilience of coastal communities in the Western Indian Ocean region (WIO) to the adverse effects of climate change. The program aims to improve the socio-economic status of these communities, with a strong emphasis on gender-sensitive conservation and climate adaptation.
The program is structured around the main pillars:
Blue Planet, which improves the efficiency, equity, and gender responsiveness of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Locally Managed Marine Areas (LMMAs);
Blue Nature, which promotes gender-based solutions (NbS) to climate change;
Blue People, which empowers women in natural value chains.
The ReSea project is implemented in five WIO countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Comoro, and Madagascar. In Tanzania, Mission Inclusion, by rights and IUCN, have collaborated with Women Fund Tanzania Trust (WFT-T), which is a professional partner for women’s issues and how it promotes gender, economic and environmental equality in the Tanga-Pemba landscape. .
Key Objectives of the Project
The RESEA project is focused on including gender equality in environmental conservation efforts, especially in the environment of the Tanga-Pemba Sea. The primary goal is to find that women, especially those from the community, become leaders in decision-making processes in decisions and marine resources, gas and climate and blue. The project emphasizes women’s empowerment by providing access to indigenous value chains (NbS), livelihood opportunities, and leadership. Through governance, the project ensures that climate resilience addresses women’s needs, while advocating for gender-sensitive policies at local, national and regional levels.
By incorporating gender equality, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability, the project aims to create a more inclusive and sustainable future where women and men contribute to sustainable development and ocean conservation.
QUALIFICATION
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in gender mainstreaming, women’s empowerment, or women’s rights advocacy, with a focus on climate-related projects.
- Skills: Strong communication, facilitation, and analytical skills, with experience working at the grassroots level and in community development.
- Passion: A deep commitment to the principles of feminism, social justice, and environmental sustainability.
