The Roads Agency in the country (TANROADS) has been entrusted with the responsibility of maintenance and development of the network of highways and regions in mainland Tanzania. It is also responsible for carrying out Axle Load Control Operations using weighing scales. TANROADS is looking for qualified Tanzanians to fill vacant positions for the project of:

Improvement of the Kibondo-Mabamba Road Project to Asphalt Level
Improvement of Kibondo-Townlink
Construction of Malagarasi Span underbridge under World Bank Guarantee
Available Positions

1. Position: Resident Engineer – 3 Positions (One for each of the three projects)

Entry Qualifications:

• Be a Tanzanian Citizen who has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
• You must be registered with the ERB as a Professional Engineer with a current practicing licence.
• Masters Degree in Bridge/Structural Engineering will be an added advantage.
• Must have at least seven (7) years of working experience in related fields, including management and/or construction of bridges/structures.
• It has been used for the same position in three (3) projects of the same nature in the last 7 years.
• Fluency in writing and speaking Kiswahili and English is a must.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and drawings, maps and reports of work done.
• Assist in reviewing survey data for accuracy, including measurements and calculations performed at survey sites.
• Record survey results, including shape, contour, area, elevation, and measurements of land or land features.
• Assist in determining the specifications of the photographic equipment to be used for aerial photography.
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Administrator.

2. Vacancy: Structures/Grade Engineer – 1 Post

Entry Qualifications:

1. Be a Tanzanian Citizen who has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
2. You must be registered with the ERB as a Professional Engineer with a current practicing licence.
3. Graduation qualification in Civil Engineering will be an added advantage.
4. You must have at least ten (10) years of working experience in road and bridge
5. construction structures, management, and contract management/administration under FIDIC Contract Terms.
6. He must have served as a Resident Engineer or in a similar position in at least three (3) road construction projects of the same nature in the last 10 years.
7. Proficiency in writing and speaking English is a must.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

• Review structural drawings and reports for compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
• Inspect, inspect, and approve building materials for compliance with technical specifications.
• Maintain records including reports, work diaries, and communications related to drainage structures on a daily basis.

3. Position : Assistant Surveyor – 1 Position (for Bridge Project)

Entry Qualifications:

1. Be a Tanzanian citizen who has a Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent from a recognized institution.
2. You must have at least five (5) years of working experience in related fields.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review survey data for accuracy, including measurements and calculations performed at survey sites.
• Identify and locate all beams and markings to enable the contractor to place and construct the work.
• Directly or conduct a survey to establish the legal boundaries of the property.

4. Position: Hardware Technician – 1 Post (for Bridge Project)

Entry Qualifications:

1. Be a Tanzanian citizen with a Full Technical Certificate (FTC) or Diploma in Civil
2. Engineering or an equivalent certificate from a recognized educational institution/college.
3. Must have at least two (2) years of working experience in a soil/equipment laboratory.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the site staff and be responsible for all technical and administrative aspects of the site.
• Manage quality control and prepare and submit small progress reports and updated costs of drainage works on a daily basis.
• Approving the measured amount of drainage works carried out satisfactorily.

5. Position: Topographic Surveyor – 1 Post (for Bridge Project)

Entry Qualifications:

1. Be a Tanzanian citizen who has a Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
   You must be registered with the NCPS as a professional Land Surveyor.
2. Postgraduate qualification in surveying will be an added advantage

ResponsDuties andibilities:

• Conduct institutional testing and monitor test results and trends.
• Prepare material test reports and update all records including reports, work diaries and payroll records.

6. Position: CAD Technician – 1 Position (for Bridge Project)

Entry Qualifications:

• Awe is a Tanzanian citizen who graduated with a Diploma in Civil Engineering, Highways
  engineer
• ing, Land Surveying, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  Must have working experience of at least five (5) years in related fields.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare drawings and sketches in collaboration with other staff related to road or bridge design.
• Maintain an office diary at the site and prepare correspondence reports.

7. Position: Works Inspector – Drainage/Structure – 1 Post (for Bridge Project)

Entry Qualifications:

• Must be a Tanzanian citizen who holds a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Must be registered by ERB as a Graduate Engineer with working experience of at least three (3) years in related fields.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete supervision of the laboratory and experiments, strictly applying the specifications.
• Ensure the implementation of the QA/QC procedures in the project.

8. Position: Materials Engineer – 1 Post (for Bridge Project)

Entry Qualifications:

• Must be a Tanzanian Citizen who holds a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
• Must be registered with ERB as a Professional Engineer and have a current practicing license.
• A postgraduate qualification in geotechnical/pavement engineering is an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in reviewing all structural drawings and reports for conformity to applicable standards and specifications.
• Assist in preparing mini progress reports with updated costs of drainage works on a daily basis.

9. Position: Works Inspector – Road Works – 2 Posts (1 for Bridge Project and 1 for Kibondo Town-Link)

Entry Qualifications:

1. Must be a Tanzanian Citizen who holds a Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
2. Must be registered by ERB as a Graduate Engineer with working experience of at least three (3) years in related fields.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Inspect road works to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
2. Inspect the implementation of QA/QC procedures in the project.

The Terms of Employment: Specified Contract

Salary: TANROADS Salary scale with other site allowances as per TANROADS Incentive Policy.
