SportPesa Limited is currently looking for a qualified and energetic Tanzanian to fill the position of DevOps Manager. Responsibility
The DevOps Manager will be responsible for managing the delivery, maintenance, and improvement of our DevOps solutions. The DevOps Manager will lead a team, driving high availability and reliability across our hybrid infrastructure, which includes cloud and on-premises systems. The DevOps Manager role will involve direct support, providing 2nd and 3rd line support, while working closely with our global IT teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
- IT Systems Management: Lead the design, deployment, configuration, testing, and monitoring of IT systems to support high availability, security, and risk across all environments.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, ensure consistent performance, robustness and reliability.
- Security and Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to maintain and enhance system security.
- Team Leadership: Mentoring and providing direction to the DevOps team, promoting continuous improvement.
- Knowledge Sharing: Document processes to support team knowledge sharing and ensure consistent system reliability.
- Technology and Innovation: Stay informed about emerging trends in DevOps and cloud computing, bringing insights to the team.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by Management.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience in a DevOps or related role, with at least 2 years in a management or team leadership role.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid infrastructure.
- Expertise in version control, in fact GitLab.
- Proven leadership, mentoring, and team management skills.
- Strong problem solving ability and excellent communication skills.
Time management skills.
Recommended Features:
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, ELK stack, or Grafana.
- Knowledge of network concepts, protocols, and security best practices.
- Experience with microservices architecture and serverless computing.
- Proficiency in database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Couchbase, MongoDB).
