Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH) was established under Government Proclamation No. 453 of 2015 which was announced by the government on October 16, 2015 after being inaugurated on October 13, 2015. The establishment of this hospital is based on the vision of the 4th President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, to have a modern and advanced medical facility in Tanzania by 2015 with the aim of reducing the government’s burden arising from sending patients abroad. The hospital has 400 beds that cater to both local and international patients.
