Job Summary
As the Field Officer for the Food for His Children (FFHC) Department, you will serve as the primary liaison between our organization and the beneficiaries we support. Your role encompasses a range of responsibilities aimed at providing comprehensive support to rural families in Tanzania, with a focus on case management and community engagement through family visits and community meetings.
This position requires traveling by motorbike to remote villages. Applicants must have a motorbike license or be willing to travel by motorbike to complete their duties.
Responsibilities:
Discipleship: provide one-on-one instruction in D4D principles and Biblical values to help individuals grow in their relationship with Jesus and understand who they were created to be and how their role fits into their entire family and community.
- Demonstrate Christ-like character in all aspects of life to be a role model for others.
- Case management of FFHC families to train, encourage and equip them to be all that God created them to be.
- Develop a family monitoring schedule and assess indicators of success, and assist families in setting goals and steps to achieve them, providing practical support as needed.
- Meet regularly with families to assess and monitor progress on stated goals; progress toward the 16 Points of Healthy Homes; goat care and husbandry, family food security and assist in problem solving as needed.
- Complete case notes for each visit or attempted visit with the family.
- Coach families in the process of identifying and addressing challenges to achieving their goals and provide additional support as needed, and write weekly participant stories to highlight their challenges, successes and about their lives.
- Record all contacts and participants in appropriate files and enter family information into a database, make this information available to FFHC USA for marketing/donor relations purposes, and attend project meetings and sites to discuss successes and challenges and ways to address challenges.
- Assess client and family needs and plan, coordinate, monitor, evaluate, and advocate for services to meet client specific needs.
- Conduct family interviews upon acceptance into the program and annual review regarding the month of program enrollment anniversary.
- Complete a goal plan with each family based on their goals and objectives needed to meet contract requirements
- Conduct annual family assessments and provide practical support in areas of difficulty, as needed.
- Manage the Food for His Children school and family engagement program
- Maintain separate files for each family and ensure that all records are maintained based on the activity performed in a specific folder and that records are entered into the FFHC database in a timely manner.
- Create family and child stories for fundraising
- Ensure the formation of savings groups at each project site and attend savings group meetings to foster relationships with the group at least monthly.
- Ensure all families comply with the terms and conditions of the Food for His Children contract
- Participate in assigned departmental work as required
QUALITIES
- Desire to live and lead like Jesus and align with the Food for His Children core values and beliefs
- Diploma in community development or social work
- Experience working in community development, sociology/social work field with preference given to those with a Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position in one of the above fields or a related field.
- Desire to live and work in an emerging CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Database and Excel.
- Fluency in English and Swahili, written and spoken, is required.
- Deep understanding of public relations and community interaction, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, support and understand project teams, especially in emerging community services.
- Must be detail-oriented and prioritize work completion, work well in a team environment, but also have the ability to work independently.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and ride a motorcycle (Required)
