Responsibilities
- Ensure a healthy and safe work environment for all employees.
- Ensure safe operations, i.e., attending mandatory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, reporting incidents/accidents and ensuring full compliance with all Safety, Occupational Health and Environment Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Promote a safe and productive work environment through visible and visible leadership, and hands on technical and management practices.
- Conduct investigations on behalf of Barrick North Mara into matters brought against the Company or its employees.
- Conduct investigations into wrongdoings committed by Company employees and make recommendations to Management based on the results of these investigations.
- Conduct end-to-end investigations by ensuring that all established investigation/conduction procedures for various types of investigations are followed and by making appropriate arrangements for high-level investigations.
- Compile investigation reports in accordance with established operational procedures, containing the results of the investigations.
- Conduct security screening of all incoming candidates/new employees as well as contractors.
- Ensure that each investigation has a valid, value-adding conclusion for the type of investigation conducted.
- Support line management / HR with relevant findings / documentation for use in disciplinary processes.
- Review intelligence data collected for your area.
- Conduct activities as directed by the Manager – Industrial Relations/Human Resources and Asset Protection Manager.
- Assist other members of the Department in general security duties as assigned.
- Review Policies and Procedures related to security and advise Management on methods to mitigate security risks.
- Regularly test written security procedures for employee compliance.
- Monitor and report on security violations.
- Represent Barrick in any criminal proceedings/civil proceedings where the company is called to attend.
- Adhere to all voluntary international human rights standards through daily conduct.
- Comply with all Tanzanian laws relating to the performance of work.
- Maintain case files and a central investigation database to operational standards.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager – Industrial Relations or Human Resources Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, Criminology, or related disciplines.
- Must demonstrate excellent oral/written communication skills in English.
- Computer literacy is essential- Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook.
- Team player and results-oriented.
- Valid Tanzanian driver’s license
- Understanding of Health and Safety Act in Mines.
Required experience and competencies.
- Previous professional experience with inspection procedures and practices.
- Minimum of 04 years of experience in the Mining Industry.
- Able to work under minimal supervision and supervision.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with those you come into contact with during the course of work.
- Demonstrate high work ethics and conduct at all times.
