Position: Biomedical Technician
Reporting Line: Chief Medical Officer.
Work Location: Kivulini Maternity Centre, Arusha.

Who are we?

Maternity Africa is a Christian non-governmental organization that strives to provide fistula treatment and quality maternity care to all marginalized women across Tanzania. We do this through clinical excellence and by demonstrating love, kindness and compassion regardless of race, religion or ethnicity. Maternity Africa operates from its Kivulini Maternity Centre outside the city of Arusha in Northern Tanzania.

About the role.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Biomedical Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical equipment and a passion for ensuring patient safety. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and servicing of a range of medical equipment. You will also provide technical support to clinical staff including equipment maintenance training and participate in the evaluation and selection of new equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a variety of medical equipment, including imaging equipment, patient monitoring systems, and laboratory equipment.
  2. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment defects.
  3. Repair and test equipment to ensure accuracy and safety.
  4. Provide technical support to clinical staff.
  5. Participate in the evaluation and selection of new equipment.
  6. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
  7. Adhere to all safety and regulatory standards.
  8. Any other necessary duties as assigned by the manager/general manager.

Qualifications and Certifications, Experience, and Skills Required.

 

  1. Diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology.
  2. At least 3 years of experience as a Biomedical Technician.
  3. Extensive knowledge of medical and electrical equipment.
  4. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Certifications such as Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) will be an added advantage.How to Apply.
