Why Is Guided Access Not Working?

Guided Access is a great feature in iOS that allows you to limit an iPad, iPhone, or iPod to a single app and also limit the amount of time a device can be used. Unfortunately, this feature is not working in some cases and users are stuck trying to figure out why.

Common Reasons for Guided Access Not Working

Below are some common reasons why Guided Access may not be working on your device:

    • Boomerang Mode: Boomerang mode is a feature that can cause Guided Access to not work. Boomerang mode limits the amount of time a device can be used, and if triggered it can prevent Guided Access from functioning. To disable Boomerang mode, open Settings and scroll to Boomerang.

    • Device Restrictions: Device restrictions can also prevent Guided Access from working. To disable device restrictions, go to Settings > General > Restrictions, and then turn off all the restrictions.

    • Software Updates: If Guided Access suddenly stops working, it may be due to a software update. Check to make sure you have the latest version of iOS installed on your device.

How to Fix Guided Access Not Working

If Guided Access is still not working after following the steps above, then there may be more underlying issues. Here are some things you can try to troubleshoot and get Guided Access working again:

        • Restart your device: A simple restart can sometimes solve minor software issues.

        • Reset all settings: Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings to restore the device to its factory settings. This will also reset any customized settings you may have changed.

        • Update iOS: Check to make sure you have the latest version of iOS installed on your device, as this can often fix any software issues.

        • Contact Apple Support: If all else fails, you can contact Apple Support for further assistance.

Guided Access is a great feature and can help you control how your device is used, but for it to work properly, you need to make sure all of its associated settings are functioning properly. If you’re having trouble getting Guided Access to work, then following the steps above should help you get it back up and running again.
