POSITION; Highway Engineer

The National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is responsible for the maintenance and development of the Highway Network and Regions in Mainland Tanzania. It is also responsible for carrying out Axle Load Control Operations using weighing scales.
The Manager of TANROADS Kilimanjaro Region, on behalf of the Chief Executive of TANROADS, is looking for Tanzanians with the qualifications and ability to fill the vacant positions for the Same-Kisiwani-Mkomazi Road Improvement Project (100.5 kilometers) to the asphalt level; Part 2: Ndungu-Mkomazi section (36 km) in Kilimanjaro region.

Entry Qualifications:
- Be a Tanzanian citizen who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- You must be registered with the ERB as a Professional Engineer and have a current license to practise.
- Master’s Degree in Highway Engineering will be an added advantage.
- You must have at least seven (7) years of working experience in road design and/or construction management.
- Must have served as Highway Engineer or equivalent capacity in at least two (2) road and bridge construction projects of similar nature and size in the last 10 years.
- The ability to write and speak Kiswahili and English is a must.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage compliance with contract terms and specifications;
- Review the existing structure and identify any deficiencies and advise the Resident
- Engineer accordingly during the construction period;
- Controlling the symmetry of the geometric structure in construction works, taking into account the best practices according to the conditions of the site;
inspecting completed works to ensure compliance with technical specification requirements; - Prepare control charts of the main activities and the main schedule of the project, showing the past performance and the forecast of completion including the time involved in each case;
- Measuring the number of tasks performed satisfactorily;
- Prepare and submit a detailed progress report with updated cost of construction works to the Resident Engineer; and
- To perform other related tasks as directed by the Project Manager (PM).
Terms of Service:
Terms of Employment: 1 year fixed contract
Salary: TANROADS salary scale plus other allowances as per TANROADS Incentive Policy.
