Geita Gold Mine Limited GGML is a leading gold production company in Tanzania with one operation in Geita region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, a global gold producer headquartered in South Africa, and operates in more than ten countries, on four continents. The mine is located in the Lake Victoria Gold fields in the North-West of Tanzania, only about 85 km from Mwanza City and 20 km South-East of the nearby Lake Victoria area. This company has its main office in Geita region, only 5 kilometers west of the rapidly growing city of Geita, and a support office in Dar es Salaam.
The mine is determined to bring sustainable development to the communities surrounding the mine and has continued to demonstrate this by cooperating fully with the Government in improving social services including education, health, water and roads as well as other economic activities for the community surrounding the mine. The mine has spent more than TZS 30 billion to implement several community projects in collaboration with Geita Local Governments after the amendment of the Mining Law in 2017.
