No Caller ID – Is It Someone You Know?
Receiving unknown calls on your home or cellphone can be disconcerting, especially when the number appears as ‘No Caller ID’. The urge to answer is there – after all, it could be an important message. But when you do pick up, the caller is unknown and mysterious. So, what should you do when you get a call with no caller ID?
Put it on Speaker
Describing the situation over the phone will likely make the caller agitated, so one way to handle it is by putting the call on speaker. That way, you can keep your distance and as much peace as possible.
Check Your Contacts
The person could be someone you know, but using a different number. In that case, you may be able to track them down in your contacts by running a quick search. If the unrecognized number is stored in your phone, it could reveal clues about the caller’s identity.
Put Up a Recording Message
If the no caller ID situation continues, consider putting up a recording message to let the caller know who you are and your availability. You’ll at least have the satisfaction of knowing that the caller knew who was on the other end of the line – and they can’t deny you that.
Block the Number
If the no caller ID calls persist, you should take steps to block the number. Although, it could be someone you know, it’s better to be safe than sorry. On Android and iOS phones, you can do this by simply tapping ‘Block this Caller’.
No caller ID calls can be unnerving – they could be from anyone, anywhere. That’s why it’s best to take steps to protect yourself before answering any unknown calls, such as checking your contacts, blocking the number, or putting up a recording message.
