Fiji Year 8 Examination 2023 Results

The Ministry of Education has reported the highest ever number of students achieving the highest grades in their Fiji Year 8 Examination. This year a significant 22.3% of students achieved the highest A* grade average in the exam.

The Ministry of Education’s report highlighted regional achievements, where students in the Central, Eastern and Western Divisions of Fiji outperformed their peers in the North and North East divisions.
The Ministry of Education awarded the highest achievers with a monetary prize, trip to a resort and acknowledgment in print, radio, television and online media.
Increased Public Interest
There was a much greater public attention to the Year 8 results this year, as more parents, teachers and communities celebrated the accomplishments of their loved ones. This is due to the increasing number of higher results and more students graduating from the Year 8 examinations.
Areas of Improvement
The Fiji Ministry of Education report also highlighted areas needing improvement. It was reported that the pass rate in mathematics and science were below 50%, indicating that more focus should be given to these two subjects especially in rural areas.
