Salary Deferment of the Nabco 2022
The Government of Ghana launched the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) in 2018 as part of its ambitious plan to reduce unemployment in the country. Under the program, various young qualified and unqualified individuals were recruited to work in various public institutions. A major component of the program was that, all workers under NABCO would have their salaries paid by the government.
Salary Arrears Expected
Despite the fact that the government has been faithful in paying the salaries of NABCO workers in time, it is expected that there will be some salary arrears payment by 2022. This will come as a result of the delay in disbursement of funds to pay salaries. However, the government is making plans to ensure that such arrears are cleared within a reasonable time.
Process for Claiming Arrears
The following steps shall be taken to ensure that all workers under NABCO claim their salary arrears payments in 2022:
- Successful Applicants Verification: The NABCO Secretariat will coordinate the verification of all successful applicants to the program.
- Background Checks: The NABCO Secretariat will carry out background checks on all verified workers, to ensure that they are still eligible for the program.
- Approval of Claims: The NABCO Secretariat will review and approve all claims made by workers for their arrears.
- Release of Funds: The government will then released the necessary funds to ensure arrears payment to all verified workers.
“A number of demonstrations have been staged. If you would recall, we earlier sent an official petition to the Speaker of Parliament to add his influential voice to our resentment for the payment of arrears and nothing has been done about it. We have submitted another petition to the NABCO secretariat and they have not responded. We haven’t heard anything from them,” he said.
Expressing the emotions of these former NABCO trainees, he said, “the indication is that NABCO trainees have been left in limbo. NABCO Trainees have been subjected to incessant public ridicule, and they have also been subjected to severe hardships and are in a state of starvation to death.”
Naa Techie also confirmed that a letter has been sent to the finance minister, and they are awaiting his feedback. However, he threatened several protests till their demands are met.
“We have sent a letter to the finance minister. Probably it will end next week Wednesday and we will stage several demonstrations if demands are not met,” he added.
The NABCO program was introduced in 2018 as one of the policies of the Akufo-Addo-led government to ease unemployment in the country.
However, a directive was issued for all beneficiaries to remain at their post even though the program ended in 2021.
The Government of Ghana is taking positive steps to ensure that all verified workers under NABCO are able to receive their salary arrears payments by 2022. This may be seen as a major milestone of the program in reducing unemployment in the country. In 2021, the National Banking Commission (NABCO) announced that it will be introducing a new measure to support customers affected by the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The measure, called the NABCO Arrears Payment 2022, is intended to help customers who have fallen behind on payments or have other overdue accounts with the commission.
The NABCO Arrears Payment 2022 is a program that provides customers with the option to defer their payment deadlines without facing any additional fees, charges or interest. Customers can take advantage of the program as long as their accounts are up-to-date and not in arrears. With the program, customers can defer payments for up to six months, with the payment period running from April 2021 to September 2022.
The NABCO Arrears Payment 2022 program is designed to help customers who are struggling financially due to the pandemic. It provides them with the flexibility to make payments over a longer period, while mitigating the financial worries of having to pay back their mortgage or loan in one lump sum, which can be difficult due to the economic instability of the current situation.
Through this measure, customers can also expect improved service from the commission. The organization has stated that it is committed to providing a transparent and streamlined process for customers to take advantage of the benefits of the program. In addition, NABCO has offered customers the option to switch to a more flexible and lower payment schedule for their accounts, helping them to stay on top of their payments in instalments if needed.
Overall, the NABCO Arrears Payment 2022 program is a great step towards supporting customers during the pandemic. It provides customers with a much-needed option to address their arrears, while providing improved service and flexibility. We hope this measure will provide the support and security needed by those affected by the pandemic.
